Da Lat is a popular travel destination known for its scenic spots, fresh natural surroundings, and pleasant weather. If you have the chance to visit Da Lat, cloud-hunting is an experience you shouldn’t miss. The crisp, cool weather in Da Lat often brings misty mornings, making it ideal for witnessing breathtaking cloud formations. In this article, GODY shares the top 7 most beautiful, unique, and popular cloud-hunting locations in Da Lat.

Cau Dat Tea Hill

Cau Dat Tea Hill in Da Lat is a favorite for young travelers who come here to chase clouds. Various tour providers offer cloud-hunting excursions to this site. There are two primary spots for cloud-hunting at the tea hill: the wooden cloud-hunting bridge and the wooden platform, which has since been removed. Besides cloud-hunting, visitors can also catch a beautiful sunset around 4-5 PM. It’s the most popular spot for early-morning cloud-hunting tours, and visitors typically park outside and take a jeep to reach the cloud-hunting area.

  • Directions: From Da Lat Market, head towards Cau Dat Tea Hill by taking Ong Dao Bridge and turning left onto Tran Quoc Toan Street. Continue past Ho Tung Mau slope, then head to the TV Tower Roundabout. Here, turn onto Tran Hung Dao – Hung Vuong – Trai Mat road. From here, it’s about a 20-kilometer drive to the tea hill.
  • Address: VHG6+VFX, Phat Chi, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province
  • Distance from city center: ~24 km
  • Hours: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Entrance fee: ~60,000 – 200,000 VND per person (includes access to the wooden bridge)

Langbiang Peak

Langbiang is one of the most challenging cloud-hunting spots in Da Lat, offering panoramic views of the city and Golden Stream Lake. Around 4-5 PM, you can catch a gorgeous Da Lat sunset shimmering over the landscape. This spot is best for those looking to camp overnight and experience the clouds at dawn. Langbiang offers a peaceful, immersive experience with nature and promises memorable moments for avid explorers.

  • Directions: From Da Lat, head towards Lac Duong District, where you’ll need to pay an entrance fee of 30,000 VND. Once inside, there are two ways to reach Langbiang’s peak. You can hike to Radar Peak or take a Jeep up to the main cloud-hunting location.
  • Address: 2CWR+M3W, Lac Duong Town, Lac Duong District, Lam Dong Province
  • Distance from city center: ~8-10 km
  • Hours: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Entrance fee: Free entry (Jeep rental: 480,000 VND per vehicle)

Du Sinh Hill

Another scenic spot for cloud-hunting is Du Sinh Hill. Unlike Cau Dat Tea Hill, Du Sinh is a more rugged and secluded area, mainly visited by independent travelers. The road to Du Sinh is challenging, with winding passes and narrow paths, making it difficult for organized tours to reach. Yet, the spectacular views and fresh Da Lat air make it well worth the journey.

  • Directions: To reach Du Sinh Hill, head from Da Lat on Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street (Ward 5). From there, walk along the rocky mountain paths, passing a remote cemetery, and hike about 3 km up a steep path to the peak.
  • Address: 143 Y Dinh, Ward 4, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province
  • Distance from city center: ~6 km
  • Hours: Open 24/7
  • Entrance fee: Free

Hon Bo Hill

Standing at 1,709 meters above sea level, Hon Bo Hill offers a sweeping view of Da Lat’s landscape and is an excellent place to cloud-hunt at sunrise. At dawn, a misty layer blankets the entire city, creating a dreamy view reminiscent of an oil painting. For the best cloud-hunting experience, visit around 4:30 AM. Camp overnight or wake up early to reach the top and experience a peaceful morning in nature.

  • Directions: From Da Lat Market, follow Ba Huyen Thanh Quan, Nguyen Thai Hoc, and Tran Quoc Toan streets until you reach An Loc Phat, turn onto Nguyen Dinh Chieu, then proceed to Phan Chu Trinh. Continue to Huynh Tan Phat, and follow the trail to reach Hon Bo Hill. The trailhead is a short hike from here.
  • Address: 30 Doc Hon Bo, Ward 12, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province
  • Distance from city center: ~10 km
  • Hours: Open all day
  • Entrance fee: Free

Da Phu Hill

This is a popular spot for photography and cloud-hunting in Da Lat. The best times are early morning between 5-6 AM, or you can camp overnight and wake up early to catch the clouds. For the best cloud-filled views, choose days with little wind for a better chance of encountering thick clouds and mist.

  • Directions: From Da Lat, head towards Ankroet Road, turn right onto Da Phu Street, and follow the lane up a slope to the camping area on Da Phu Hill.
  • Address: Ward 7, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province
  • Distance from city center: ~7 km
  • Hours: Open all day
  • Entrance fee: Free

Co Dau Hill (Bride Hill or Pink Grass Hill)

Known as Bride Hill or Pink Grass Hill, this spot is popular among couples for wedding photos. It’s also ideal for watching the sunrise, sunset, and cloud-hunting. The best time for photos is around 5:30 AM, just as the sun starts to rise. For the best cloud-hunting experience, visit from March to April, or try any season when Da Lat’s cool, humid weather creates perfect cloud conditions.

  • Directions: From Da Lat, head towards Golden Valley, turn left at the valley entrance, and follow the trail up to Pink Grass Hill.
  • Address: DT725 Road, Lac Duong District, Lam Dong Province
  • Distance from city center: ~14 km
  • Hours: Open all day
  • Entrance fee: Free

Ideal Time for Cloud-Hunting in Da Lat

The best months for cloud-hunting in Da Lat are during the dry seasons from January to February, and June to July. Cloud-chasers should aim for days with temperatures between 15-20°C, minimal rain, and moderate humidity for a higher success rate.

Tips for a Successful Cloud-Hunting Trip

To catch the clouds, wake up early, ideally around 4 AM, as most cloud-hunting locations are a bit far from Da Lat’s center. Cloud formation is affected by several factors: low winds, rainfall the previous night, and humidity levels between 50-70%.

What to Wear for Cloud-Hunting

Choose simple, warm clothing that’s easy to move in. Avoid long dresses or light-colored shoes, as some areas are muddy and may stain easily. Comfortable, dark shoes or boots are ideal to keep you warm and avoid slipping.

We hope this guide to Da Lat’s top 7 cloud-hunting spots inspires your next adventure! Enjoy the spectacular scenery and unique experience of cloud-hunting in Da Lat.
